About Norway…

Norway is one of the five Nordic nations along with Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Of the 386,000 square kilometres of Norway, almost half is mountains with a further one third forest, lakes and rivers.

The country has a population of just 4.5 million, of which 10% live in the capital Oslo. Norway’s second city Bergen hosts a population of some 240,000.

The Norwegians are renowned for their even-handed approach to international relations and welcome tourists to what is some of the most varied and dramatic scenery in Europe. Most Norwegians speak English and the majority of the population, outside of the main cities, enjoy a truly rural community lifestyle. Fjords, glaciers, mountain springs, midnight sun, island archipelagos, are a few words that stir the emotions of visitors to Norway. Add the deep culture of Viking history and the sea, then Norway boasts one of the most interesting sailing destinations in the world.

Easily accessible from UK ferry ports and airports, our Norway sailing charters are now a real option for the discerning sailor that wants it all… but different.

Sailing South West Norway…

The south west tip of Norway offers a wide variation of sailing options that are easily accessible, comfortably navigable and, as challenging as you want it to be. From our partners’ bases in Bergen and Haugesund, a typical weeks charter could vary from north Atlantic coastal island hopping, to tranquil sailing in breathtaking fjords.

The practical business of sailing in Norway isn’t as daunting as it may seem. Whilst parts of northern Norway are in the arctic circle, our chosen sailing area shares a similar latitudes to northern Scotland. The tidal ranges are minimal, the charts are well detailed and, the weather from late spring to early autumn is often warm and settled. Most sailors will head for the seclusion and tranquillity of the myriad of islands and fjords, where personal space is almost guaranteed.

The many anchorages and visitor pontoons offer access to camping, hiking, sightseeing and, even skiing.

We are confident that a Norwegian charter with us will leave you with a whole new sailing experience and everlasting memories.
